Power of Attorney Translation

Power of Attorney Translation

How to Grant a Power of Attorney from Abroad?
For Turkish citizens residing abroad who wish to grant a power of attorney (POA) in Turkey, the process involves several key steps: preparing the correct document, notarization, apostille, and translation. Below, we explain the process step by step:

  • Start with a Turkish Draft
Begin by preparing a Turkish draft of the document that outlines the powers you wish to grant. Send this to us for review and translation.
Directly preparing the document in a foreign language might cause issues due to incomplete authorities or language errors.

Important Information: The following examples are provided for guidance when preparing a POA, but the authority definitions might be incomplete; the content of the document is the responsibility of the person granting the power. We, at Yardım Tercüme, are responsible only for the accuracy of the translation and ensuring the notarization in Turkey. We are not liable for issues that may arise in official institutions.

  • Notary Approval
After preparing the document in a foreign language, take the printed version to a notary in your country to sign and have it notarized.
Each page must have the notary's stamp, signature, and seal. For photo-based powers of attorney, the photo must be stamped.A photocopy of the Turkish ID card must be included and stamped.

Important Note for Property Transactions: For property transactions, divorce cases, or other legal processes in Turkey, the power of attorney must be based on a Turkish identity document.
Only the following documents are accepted:
    -Turkish Identity Card
    -Turkish Passport

The following documents are NOT valid for property transactions:
    -Professional Identity Cards
    -Foreign passports
    -Temporary protection documents
    -Travel documents

For property transactions, the POA must be drafted in the "regulated" format.

  • Apostille Process
After notarization, the document must be apostilled.
Documents without apostille are not valid in Turkey.
The apostille authority varies from country to country, and the notary will guide you on where to get the apostille.
An apostille is an international certification that makes a document legally valid in another country.

  • Translation and Notary Approval in Turkey
Send the document to us (first, the image, and then the original).
We will translate it into Turkish and get the translation notarized in Turkey.
Once notarized, we will send the approved document to the person you granted the power of attorney or you can pick it up from our office.
We offer fast and discounted shipping options via DHL Express.

  • Pricing
We cannot provide a fixed price until we receive the documents.
The cost depends on document volume, notary additions, and length of text.
For example, some notaries in countries like the Netherlands may require additional verification, leading to higher notary fees in Turkey.

  • Additional Information
Every page must be signed by the person granting the power of attorney.
Powers must be clearly and explicitly stated.
It is recommended to obtain a sample text from the institution in Turkey where the process will be carried out.
The document must be in the official language of the country where it is prepared.
